LEWISTON — In partnership with Winterize L/A, Goodwill Industries of Northern New England’s AmeriCorps and YouthBuild programs will weatherize several homes in the Lewiston area to honor Dr. Martin Luther King’s legacy.

Goodwill Industries of Northern New England and Winterize L/A will join hundreds of thousands of Americans across the country in making the holiday a day on, not a day off, by serving others.

“Martin Luther King devoted his life to advancing equality and social justice. He taught us that everyone has a role to play in working towards these goals,” said Joely Ross, Goodwill AmeriCorps program manager. “By serving today and throughout the year, we honor Dr. King and help realize his dream of opportunity for all.”

The Day of Service will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at the Goodwill YouthBuild headquarters, 60 Pine St. Volunteers will receive basic weatherization training before splitting into teams to weatherize the different homes.
