Last week’s results:
The Farmers’ Almanac missed this winter’s biggest storm yet, calling for unsettled weather despite a storm that blew through last Wednesday, dropping 2 inches of snow per hour at its height. Stormy showed off her foxy predicting skills last week, correctly telling people to hurry with the shovel and roof rake because the snow would be falling fast.
“How about a trip to Boston to watch the Celtics host the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday?”
The choices:
1) Have a fun drive; clear skies and clear roads. 2) Take the Downeaster; snow showers ahead. 3) Stay home and watch the Celts on TV; big storm coming.
The Farmers’ Almanac says: No way; major storm along the Eastern Seaboard.
Stormy’s Furcast: Take the Downeaster; snow showers ahead.
Stormy’s Furcast is a winter-long series testing the weather predictions of the good-natured folks at the nearly 200-year-old Farmers’ Almanac against an equally good-natured fox who lives at the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray. The almanac is based on science and secret formulas. The fox makes her pick choosing from three piles of food. Each week, a new question and the previous week’s results. May the best forecaster, or furcaster, win.
