100 years ago,1911

Good progress is being made on the new dye house which when completed will be a distinct addition to the plant of the Lewiston Bleachery & Dye Works. The new building is situated at the southeastern corner of the bleachery yard and is of modern and substantial construction. It is understood that other additions to the plant of the Lewiston Bleachery & Dye Works are to be made another year.

50 years ago, 1961

Lewiston city building employees went home early yesterday afternoon because of the storm.

Workers were allowed to leave at about 4 o’clock, an hour earlier than usual, giving them a head start through the howling storm that was whipping across the city at the time. There had been little business during the afternoon anyway.

25 years ago, 1986

Free agent pitcher Bert Roberge of Auburn will attend Tuesday’s baseball card trade session and meeting at the Lewiston Armory.

The public is urged to attend, talk baseball with Roberge and trade cards if desired.

Roberge, who starred at both Edward Little and the University of Maine, most recently pitched for the Montreal Expos, but is now free to talk to any major league team concerning his services. He has also played for the Houston Astros and the Chicago White Sox.
