LEWISTON — Common Ties Mental Health Services honored its founder, Kelsey Orestis of Bath, at its 25th anniversary celebration recently held at the Green Ladle Restaurant.
“An organizational meeting of the corporation was held on Aug.12, 1985, at the administrative conference room, St. Mary’s General Hospital…” began the minutes of the meeting, which created the agency that 25 years later continues to provide recovery-based services for people who have a mental illness.
Executive Director Craig Phillips said, “We, individually and collectively, have experienced so much over these 25 years. The one constant has been your vision for the organization and, more importantly, your reminding us of the commitment we have to the hopes and desires of the people who look to us for support. You have reminded us of our rich history and humble beginnings, and why our mission is so important to carry on.”
In recognition of the founding and the inspiration provided by Orestis, Common Ties unveiled a portrait of her, which will be permanently displayed at the 100 Pine Street Wellness and Recovery Center. Orestis was joined at the event by her daughter, Kelsey Anne Orestis, daughter-in-law, Grace, and her sons, Christo IV and Max, and friend, Bonnie Stetson.
