Last week’s results:

Stormy gets this one.

While there was snow last Wednesday before the Celtics/Pistons game, the Twin Cities logged less than a half-inch and Boston less than a quarter-inch, according to Weather Underground, so it would have made sense to take the Downeaster to the ball game instead of staying home and bundling up against a major storm, as the Farmers’ Almanac suggested.

This week’s prediction: What’s one of the best days to wash windows this month?

The choices:  1) Jan. 15     2) Jan. 20     3) Jan. 29  (There was no cheating going on; Stormy was asked the question in December.)

The food: Raw chicken.

The Farmers’ Almanac says: Jan. 29 (Contradiction alert: The almanac’s weather section calls for snow on that day, but its astrology section says it’s a good day for window washing. Almanac Philom. Peter Geiger explained in a phone call that no one says it won’t be a good day for indoor window washing. Hmmm …)

Stormy’s Furcast: Jan. 29. Fox and Farmer agree.

Stormy’s Furcast is a winter-long series testing the weather predictions of the good-natured folks at the nearly 200-year-old Farmers’ Almanac against an equally good-natured fox that lives at the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray. The almanac is based on science and secret formulas. The fox makes her pick choosing from three piles of food, appropriately labeled. Each week, a new question and the previous week’s results. May the best forecaster, or furcaster, win.
