The Edward Little boys’ basketball team will have to sleep on its hopes for a third consecutive Eastern Class A championship — all weekend.
Due to Friday’s snowstorm, the Maine Principals’ Association has postponed the regional finals at Augusta Civic Center to Monday.
Hampden and Messalonskee meet in the girls’ game at 6:05 p.m. EL and Bangor will follow at approximately 7:45 p.m., or 20 minutes after the conclusion of the girls’ awards ceremony.
Weather also forced changes to the tournament schedule in Portland, but it will not affect the only tri-county team still playing at Cumberland County Civic Center.
Leavitt and York will meet as previously scheduled in the Western Class B girls’ championship at 2 p.m. Saturday.
Western Class A girls’ semifinals have been postponed to 7 p.m. Saturday. Boys’ and girls’ regional finals now will be played in a Monday doubleheader, beginning at 6 p.m.
In Bangor, two of today’s four originally scheduled games will be played, but the traditional “Championship Saturday: will be disrupted.
Eastern Class C girls semifinals are still on at 2 p.m.
Eastern C boys’ semifinals are moved to 9:05 a.m. Saturday. Class D finals are moved to 2 p.m., with the Class B finals sliding to 7 p.m.
That moves the Eastern C title game to Monday. The girls’ game starts at 4, with boys to follow.
