Still the one
With another hat trick, Etienne Brodeur retained his top standing in the league this week in goals scored. Brodeur is also among the leaders in all the Canadian Hockey League with his 47 goals (including three hat tricks).
But thanks to his goal-scoring prowess, the 19-year-old is also on the verge of rewriting the Maineiacs’ record books. With 47 goals, Brodeur is tied with Mathieu Aubin for the most goals scored in a single season in Lewiston’s eight-year history.
Playoff packages extended
The Maineiacs announced this week that they are extending until Monday the season ticket-holders’ exclusive chance to purchase playoff ticket packages. Playoff tickets go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, March 1.
Also, the annual season ticket holder skate with the team will take place Sunday, following the team’s home game against the Drummondville Voltigeurs. More information on those dates is available from the team’s front office staff at the Colisee.
Injury woes
The Maineiacs continue to battle a late-season onset of injuries, and a handful of key players are affected.
Sam Finn will miss the remainder of the regular season, according to coach J.F. Houle, due to an undisclosed injury.
Pierre-Olivier Morin suffered a broken nose against Drummondville on Friday, and Michael Chaput is listed as day-to-day after an injury also suffered in the team’s 4-2 setback Friday.
Time winding down
With the clock about to tick into March, the Maineiacs are looking at a fast-approaching end of the regular season. Only three home games remain on the team’s schedule — Sunday’s matchup against Victoriaville, and a pair over three days against Gatineau on March 11 and 13.
The team will spend its remaining five games on the road, with a swing through the Maritimes next weekend, followed by one each in Baie Comeau and Chicoutimi to close things out.
