Lewiston police stopped 424 cars within a one-and-a-half-hour period Friday night in the first tryout of a roadblock program designed to deter driving under the influence.
Only one arrest, for allegedly driving under the influence and after license suspension, resulted from the stops, said Sgt. Andy D’Eramo, head of the LPD’s Selective Enforcement Team, which is handling the roadblock program.
D’Eramo said police did not receive any complaints about the roadblock, which was set up on Canal Street at 11 p.m.
