LEWISTON — The Lewiston Regional Technical Center will add a business management program to their list of offerings available in the fall to area high school students. Rob Callahan, LRTC’s director, says the school’s ability to respond to community demands was the impetus for adding this cluster of classes.
Students interested in the business field or considering owning their own small business will benefit from the experience. Typical of all of LRTC’s programs, the curriculum will include hands-on learning and interaction with professionals. There will be visits to area manufacturing plants and businesses, networking opportunities with business leaders, as well as the opportunity to participate in state and national competitions. Students leave the program with a management portfolio and an understanding of the process of making business run due to effective management strategies.
LRTC serves students from six area high schools, Edward Little in Auburn, Leavitt in Turner, Lewiston, Lisbon, Oak Hill in Wales and Poland. Students and parents are encouraged to discuss LRTC with a guidance councilor or adviser.
