Two nursing supervisors and one head nurse have been promoted to administrative position at St. Mary’s Hospital as part of a reorganization of the hospital’s nursing services department to a decentralized system of nursing.

Dianne Massey, RN, has been named director of surgical services; Diane St. Laurent, RN, has become director of critical care services; and Irene Gondek, RN, has been appointed director of medical/surgical services.

The aim of a decentralized nursing system is to place autonomy, accountability and authority with the nurses who are providing direct care to the patient.
