FARMINGTON – An ATV stolen from Titcomb Mountain Ski Area Tuesday night sometime after 9 p.m. was driven out to Morrison Hill Road then turned right heading towards West Farmington, said Farmington Police Chief Jack Peck.
A second ATV parked at Madore’s Market in West Farmington was also taken Tuesday night sometime after 9:30 p.m., he said.
Someone broke into the lodge at the ski area and one of the unattached garages. They also broke into Northern Lights Rental Shop located at Titcomb Mountain where they took ski goggles, gloves and power tools.
After searching through the lodge, they took a 2006 Artic Cat Prowler, a large two-seat ATV, and two chain saws from the outer building, Peck said.
The ATV is red and has a dump body. It also has safety chains on it. Police followed the tracks from the ski slope to Morrison Hill Road but they stopped when the vehicle turned right on to the paved road.
Peck was unsure how the vehicle was started. An estimate of value was unavailable.
It was loud especially with the chains on, he said. Police ask anyone who may have seen or heard it going down the road to call them at 778-6311.
In the second incident, the owner of an older model, three-wheel ATV parked the vehicle at Madore’s Market, located about a couple miles away, at 9:30 p.m. and went to work. Apparently someone picked him up to commute to work, Peck said.
He returned this morning to find the vehicle gone. An older ATV, it had no ignition so anyone could start it and just drive off, he said.
