AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine Securities Administrator Judith Shaw says her office ordered more than $6.4 million in restitution returned to investors last year.
The securities office obtained an additional $164,000 in restitution for Maine investors without taking formal action.
The office also imposed more than $900,000 in fines on violators of securities laws last year, and worked with the attorney general to obtain convictions in two securities-related criminal cases in 2010.
Shaw says input from the public plays a meaningful role in maintaining proper oversight of securities and protecting investors.
