My hat is off to the RSU4 school board. It is to be congratulated to the utmost. Money doesn’t change things, as politicians believe and repeatedly do support. People do, and Oak Hill High School Principal Pat Doyle is not the problem.
I knew Ms. Doyle from my nine years on the OHHS school board. She was one of the most dedicated teachers I have ever known, a major advocate for students and boundless energy.
Those traits have served her well all of her career and, from what I have learned, still do.
Issues that cannot be controlled within the school system are not always the blame of the staff, yet the staff often takes the brunt of the blame.
I would bet everything I have that if she had the power to change things at OHHS for the better, the school would shine.
Throwing money at the problem will not change it. Empowering leadership will.
The school board made the right choice. Now, I hope they have what it takes to get behind her and change direction to the positive.
