NEWRY —Sunday River will have a free ski day on Easter to celebrate the end of its ski season Sunday.
The day starts at 7 a.m. with a sunrise Easter service followed by an egg hunt for children at 9 a.m.
The resort is offering free skiing and snowboard riding all day long to celebrate both events, according to release issued Monday.
“It’s a great way to end the season,” said Dana Bullen, the resort’s president. “We started six months ago and are celebrating another great season and closing day with free skiing and riding. That we’re also able to celebrate Easter on the very same day makes it that much more special.”
The Barker Mountain Express chairlift will load out of the Barker base area starting at 6:30 a.m. for the sunrise service.
After the service skiers and riders will head down Barker Mountain to the base and starting at 8 a.m., the Barker Mountain Express and White Cap Quad chairlifts will operate to provide access to trails on Barker Mountain, Locke Mountain, and White Cap Mountain for the last day of the season, the release stated.
Sunday River’s annual Easter Egg Hunt starts at 9 a.m.
Hundreds of eggs will be filled with prizes and candy and scattered throughout the resort’s Perfect Turn Ski and Ride School learning area.
Interested kids and their parents should meet just outside of the Perfect Turn Ski School on the patio deck with buckets or baskets in hand. Once all of the Easter eggs have been collected, the Easter Bunny will make his way out to meet all of the kids for photos, the release stated.
