LIVERMORE — Owner Sarah Delaney announces that her new business, Phoenix Pottery in Livermore, is now up and running.

Her earthenware pottery will be on display at an open house April 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Livermore Community Building, 31 Church St.

Phoenix Pottery’s pieces are made from local Maine blue marine clay, which is approximately 12,000 to 14,000 years old and was deposited in the ground by receding glaciers. This clay is also the same material that traditional bricks were made from and early Maine potters used it to make functional wares for the home and farm.

All of Phoenix Pottery’s pieces are individually made on a kick pottery wheel. Functional and decorative pieces are hand-carved and hand-glazed in beautiful patterns, including apple branches, blueberries, maple leaves and other designs. All items are dishwasher and microwave safe and lead free.

After the open house, Phoenix Pottery’s pieces will be available at unique gift shops around the state, including Foss Jewelry in Livermore Falls, and at local craft fairs.
