PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — A young man from Casco is going to prison for seven years after pleading guilty to two counts of manslaughter for a car crash that killed two friends.

WMTW-TV says Nicholas Sparrow, who was 20 at the time of the crash, entered his plea Wednesday in Cumberland County Superior Court.

Prosecutors said Sparrow was drunk when he sped away and crashed into some trees after a deputy sheriff tried to pull him over late at night last August.

Killed in the accident were 29-year-old Thomas St. Saviour, of Hiram, and 14-year-old Michael Daye, of Baldwin.
