LEWISTON — The Lewiston Auburn Economic Growth Council honored Bedard with the Economic Achievement Award at its annual dinner, held May 12 in Lewiston.

The award is presented each year to Lewiston and Auburn organizations or individuals that stand out in their commitment to invest in the community and create jobs.

Bedard owners and operators Michael and Annette Nadeau purchased the company in 1997 from Michael’s parents. Bedard, the only independent pharmacy in Lewiston-Auburn, now employs 50 professionals, an increase of 44 employees since 1967. Bedard is nationally accredited with JCAHO and NABP and Bedard’s pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are nationally certified. The pharmacy and long-term care pharmacy are located at 61 College St., Lewiston. The durable medical equipment and supplies retail store is located at 1125 Lisbon St., Lewiston.

During the summer of 2011, the medical supply store and the long-term care pharmacy will be relocated to a state-of-the-art retail facility now under construction at 359 Minot Ave., Auburn. The new building will also house Bedard’s administrative offices and a pharmacy with drive-up window service. Bedard’s College Street pharmacy will remain open.
