DIXFIELD — Residents of the Western Foothills Regional School Unit 10 went to the polls Tuesday to decide whether to approve a $34.1 million, 2011-12 operating budget.

At press time, the results from the towns of Dixfield, Mexico and Peru were the only ones reported. In Dixfield, the vote was 76-27 in favor of passage. Mexico also favored passage by a vote of 167-77, and in Peru, the vote was 154-107.

Results from the nine other towns were not available by late Tuesday.

Superintendent Tom Ward said by telephone Tuesday night that he expects to receive the all results Wednesday morning.

About 100 district residents attended a town meeting-style budget vote last week where the proposed budget was overwhelmingly approved. The proposed figure is the same that has been put to voters for three school years.

The RSU 10 board will act on the results of Tuesday’s vote at a regular board meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the central office in Dixfield.
