The Trek Across Maine, which is in its 27th year, gets under way Friday with about 2,300 cyclists making their way east from Bethel to Belfast.

On Friday, the riders will go from Sunday River to the University of Maine at Farmington, which is about 60 miles. On Saturday, they’ll ride from Farmington to Colby College in Waterville. The ride wraps up Sunday with a final 60-mile leg, from Colby College to Belfast.

The Kennebec Journal says the ride, which has raised $16 million since its inception, has 150 teams and cyclists from 28 states this year.
