ROCKLAND, Maine (AP) — Drug agents say a 24-year-old Maine man is behind bars after they allegedly seized 21 pounds of marijuana from his vehicle.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says Christopher Luce, of Waldoboro, was charged Monday with trafficking marijuana and violation of probation.

MDEA Supervisor James Pease says Luce took off running into some woods when agents approached him last week while he was sitting in his parked sport utility vehicle outside a convenience store in Union. A search of the vehicle allegedly turned up 21 pounds of pot bundled in wrapped plastic with an estimated street value of $42,000.

Officials say Luce turned himself in Monday morning at the Knox County Jail in Rockland.
