RUMFORD — Tammy Nosek, Rumford High School Class of 1988, daughter of Robert and Diane Milligan of Rumford Point, is the recipient of the prestigious 2011 Meritorious Service Award given by the American Society of Engineers Mohawk-Hudson Section.

Nosek was chosen based upon her involvement in a multitude of activities and events, both related to the ASCE and within her community. Within the ASCE, if there is a committee, she has chaired it; if there’s a meeting, she has organized it. As an example of her work in her local community, she has volunteered with Angel Flight, providing free transportation for the needy to medical treatment facilities; Guiding Eyes for the Blind as a volunteer handler for dogs in training; and the Winona Lake Engine Company in Newburgh, N.Y., where she lives.
