DIXFIELD — Lauren Hebert, DPT, announces that Annie K. Dyer, DPT, has joined SmartCare Physical Therapy. Dr. Dyer is a recent graduate of the doctor of physical therapy program at Husson University. In addition to her doctorate degree, she also holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology (the science of human movement).

Dyer served her first of three internships at SmartCare in 2009, specializing in care of people with musculoskeletal problems of the neck, low back and extremities. Her training at SmartCare focused on advanced mobilization and manipulation techniques, McKenzie protocol for treatment of disc-related back problems, kinesiotape tactics, electro-acupuncture, and a range of exercise protocols. The overall objective of her internship at SmartCare was to build skills in identifying the best evidence-based treatment techniques. Her target population included people with workplace injuries, with experience in on-site ergonomics consulting and musculo-skeletal injury prevention programs at several area workplaces.

Dyer will work with Hebert at Dixfield, as well as manage SmartCare’s Turner clinic. This will be a uniquely special assignment for her, as she grew up in Turner and is well known in that community. She will also be assigned to consulting at various workplaces to perform ergonomics services and prevention programs, and setting up workplace micro-stretching programs to prevent musculo-skeletal overuse disorders.

SmartCare is a PT-owned outpatient clinic that provides physical therapy care for people with neck and back pain, tendinitis and carpal tunnel, headache and TMJ, sports and work injuries. For more information, go to: www.smartcarept.com.
