MONMOUTH — Monmouth Community Players has scheduled a table reading  for its final production of the 2011 season, “The Diviners,” on Monday, Aug. 1.

This Depression-era story, by Jim Leonard Jr., focuses on the relationship between a mentally challenged boy who divines water and a “backsliding” preacher. 

Set in rural Indiana, it is a heartwarming tale of faith, friendship and longing. 

The reading will be at 6:30 p.m. at Cumston Hall on Main Street. Anyone is welcome to read, listen and get familiar with the play in advance of auditions scheduled on Aug. 21-23 at 6:30 p.m. at Cumston Hall. Roles are available for teens and adults.
