BRUNSWICK — CREA is hosting the fourth annual Run for the Sun 5K road race, to be held on Saturday, July 23, in downtown Brunswick.
Beginning at 9 a.m. on the Brunswick Town Mall, the race will pass through town and partway along the riverside Androscoggin bike path before finishing at the Mall gazebo.
The race is a charity fundraiser benefiting the Cathance River Education Alliance, a local nonprofit that manages the 235-acre Cathance River Preserve in Topsham. Proceeds help to sponsor environmental education in local schools and multiple student-led sustainability initiatives, as well as to provide adult programs and maintain of over 5 miles of public trails.

Preregistration is $15 or $20 on race day and includes a participant’s gift bag for all runners, as well as a free T-shirt for the first 100 registrants. Prize money and trophies will be awarded to the top two male and female runners, while the first two finishers in each age group and gender division will receive medals.
New this year, participants will receive a package of race day discounts to Brunswick area shops and restaurants.
