LEWISTON — The Androscoggin County Farm Bike Tour planned for July 24, is being cancelled. After much deliberation the organizing partners, Androscoggin/Sagadahoc Cooperative Extension, Healthy Androscoggin and Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District, concluded that there was not adequate evidence of community support for the event.

The event was to provide information about food preservation, master gardening, therapeutic horse riding programs, the forever farming program and conservation measures used to promote sustainable agriculture. It was designed to provide a family activity, physical exercise and a learning experience. The owners of the farms were offering the opportunity for the pedaling participants to begin to understand the diversity of agricultural production and see some of Androscoggin County’s most vital farmland in the Durham area.

Those who would like to participate in the future should contact Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District at 254 Goddard Road, Lewiston, ME 04240, call 753-9400, ext. 400, or email [email protected].
