AUBURN Borders is set to close every one of their stores by the end of September. That includes the Borders-operated Waldenbooks in the Auburn Mall, leaving the Twin Cities without a new-book seller.
So if you’re partial to the printed word, the time to buy is now.
Liquidation sales will begin Friday at some locations, Borders spokeswoman Mary Davis said Tuesday evening. Davis did not know whether the Auburn Waldenbooks location would begin its liquidation sale on Friday, but she said sales would start in all stores “within coming days.”
Prices were slashed by 20 percent or more during liquidation sales after Borders declared bankruptcy and closed more than 200 locations in February, Davis said. Similar deals are likely this time around and will probably get better as the stores draw closer to closing — and as fewer titles are found on shelves.
