AUBURN — Small animals at Pet Quarters in Auburn were moved from the store temporarily this weekend due to an air conditioner malfunction.
Few details were available Sunday night, but Wendell Strout, animal control officer for Androscoggin County, confirmed that “rodents” were removed from the store Saturday afternoon.
Strout said there were no dogs or cats in the building and that fish and other aquatic life were left there because there was not considered to be an immediate danger for those animals. The animals were moved to another location at the request of the Maine Department of Agriculture’s Animal Welfare Division.
