Police are looking for Elmer A. Norton, who is described as being a white male, 5-foot, 8-inches tall and weighing approximately 150 pounds.

“It is alleged that Mr. Norton had a verbal (cell phone) altercation with the 34-year-old male victim,” according to a press release issued by Livermore Falls Police Chief Ernest Steward Jr. “He later confronted (the victim) in person at the Livermore Falls location with a handgun. He fired one shot at the victim missing him and ran from the area.”

Steward said Officer Daniel Chabot responded to the call and secured  the crime scene area with the help of the Jay Police Department. The Maine State Police Tactical Team was called in with a canine unit. Deputies from Androscoggin and Franklin counties, as well as Wilton Police and additional Livermore Falls officers also assisted in the search for the gunman, Steward stated.

As of 2 p.m. Norton had not been located. According to Steward there is already a warrant for Norton’s arrest had already been issued based on an earlier domestic violence complaint in the same area on June 13, 2011.
