LEBANON, Maine (AP) — Officials in Maine say a stuck throttle may be the reason a Massachusetts man’s truck went out of control and crashed during a mud race in East Lebanon.

The name of the injured man wasn’t released, but he was taken to a York County hospital on Sunday after his truck went off the track and traveled about 100 feet into a wooded area before landing in a brook. The water was about 3-feet deep.

The man’s injuries were not considered life threatening.

Lebanon assistant rescue Chief Jason Cole tells the Portland Press Herald the incident seems to be a freak accident.

The event, Go Deep Mud, has three, 200-foot-long mud pits where races are held a couple of times a month.
