BOONE, N.C. — Gregory Guay completed his Master of Music degree in classical guitar performance under Dr. Douglas James at Appalachian State University in May 2011.
Guay completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts in music in 2009 at College of Charleston under Professor Marc Regnier, receiving Departmental Honors and Awards for Instrumental Excellence in Classical Guitar Performance.
Gregory has performed several times in both the Young Artist Series of Charleston’s Piccolo Spoleto Festival and St. Luke’s Recital Series, as well as regular recitals in the eastern U.S. Gregory was a faculty member of Charleston Academy of Music for several years.
He studied Suzuki Guitar Method with one of the founders, Frank Longay, in San Francisco, and continues teaching as a registered Suzuki Guitar Instructor for children in his private studio in Boone, N.C. He is also teaching as a graduate assistant at Appalachian State University and as adjunct faculty at Emory & Henry College.
Aside from music he enjoys snowboarding, hiking, bicycling, yoga and visiting his family in Maine. Guay is the son of Lisa and Jeff Pengel of Durham and Daniel Guay of Greene.
