OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Gayton Post 31 stranded 14 baserunners and was eliminated from the American Legion Northeast Regional Friday with a 6-1 loss to Whitestown, N.Y. at the Ballpark.

Luke Cote had three hits and scored Gayton’s lone run on a bases loaded walk to Corbin Hyde in the third. Gayton stranded at least one runner in every inning.

Whitestown struggled with runners aborad, too, leaving 13 on, but Dylan Gorski (two-run single), Matt Engler (three hits) and Mike Sullivan (2 for 3) all came through with run-scoring singles for Whitestown.

Engler managed to last eight innings on the mound for Whitestown despite surrendering seven hits, three walks and two hit batsmen.

Corbin Hyde took the loss for Gayton (26-3), yielding three runs on seven hits and five walks while striking out six.

For Gayton, Alex Parker had two hits, Mekae Hyde reached base four times with two walks, a hit and a hit-by-pitch, and Corbin Hyde had Gayton’s only extra-base hit, a double.
