BANGOR — A local woman was indicted Wednesday by the Penobscot County grand jury for unlawful sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child.
Audrey Dam, 29, of Bangor was communicating with a convicted sex offender on Facebook, according to Michael Roberts, assistant district attorney for Penobscot County.
In her conversations with the sex offender, whose whereabouts are not known, Dam posted comments about having had sexual contact with a 6-year-old child, Roberts said. When interviewed by investigators, the child confirmed the sexual contact.
Roberts did not explain how investigators became aware of Dam’s Facebook chats.
If convicted, Dam faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000 on the sex charge and up to a year in prison and a fine of up to $2,000 on the endangering charge.
