AUBURN — Police arrested a local man in connection with a Wednesday robbery of the Big Apple Store on Main Street.

Lucas Bonney, 22, was charged with robbery, taken to Androscoggin County Jail and held in lieu of $3,500 bail.

Police said a man entered the store at about 11:40 p.m. and demanded cash in the register from the clerk. When he was given an undisclosed amount of cash, he fled the store and ran into Bonney Park. Police said no weapon was involved.

Officer Nicholas Gagnon found a man on the Lewiston side of the walking trestle that connects Bonney Park with Simmard-Payne Park who matched the description of the robber given by the store’s clerk.

Police said they recovered the cash taken from the store.
