Caught in the heavy, compact sand Louis Barry and Ruel Moreaux, two laborers in Auburn’s street department, were slightly injured at about 1:50 o’clock Saturday afternoon, when a wall of the trench in which they were at work, gave way.

The trench is on Mill Street, New Auburn, where a sewer is being laid. The wall fell without warning and the men were buried deep in the sand. Fellow laborers rushed to their aid but it was fully ten minutes before they could be extricated. A physician was summoned and the men left off work for the remainder of the day.
