Bra purse exhibit
LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing at Central Maine Medical Center will present a traveling bra purse exhibit on loan from the Cancer Center at Lowell General Hospital. The collection aims to help communities and organizations increase awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. The purses will be on display from Sept. 10-21 at the CMMC Gift Shop, 60 High St.
Created by breast cancer survivors, the collection is a display of individual expression that celebrates the experiences of breast cancer survivorship. It carries a message of inspiration and courage to those around the nation, promoting the importance of art-therapy for survivors, providing a unique gathering point to promote breast cancer awareness.
The collection inspired the Dempsey Center to host a workshop for local survivors to make their own bra purses which will be on display later in the month. For more information, call the Dempsey Center at 795-8250.
