FAIRFIELD, Maine (AP) — Police in the Maine town of Fairfield say they intercepted a 200-packet shipment of bath salts sent to a local business where officers seized 165 packets of the drug last week.

Fairfield Police Chief John Emery says that after the Sept. 6 seizure from Bargains ‘R Us officers listened in while store owner John Linscott called his contact for the drug order.

The contact indicated two additional shipments of bath salts, one for 90 packets and the other for 110, would be shipped the next day. Fairfield police seized the two shipments on Friday.

The Morning Sentinel (http://bit.ly/oryIlx) says the two seizures had a total street value of about $27,000.

Linscott has been charged with trafficking in bath salts, a synthetic drug that can cause hallucinations.
