LISBON — The town announces that Clerk Twila Lycette has received the Maine Town and City Clerks Association’s 2011 Clerk of the Year Award.

The award was presented Sept. 14 at the Elks Banquet & Convention Center in Waterville during the Maine Town and City Clerks annual meeting. Gina Mason, town councilor, also accepted a plaque on behalf of the town.

The nominee for this award must hold the title of clerk for his/her municipality, be a certified clerk of Maine and be a current MTCCA member. They must have held the position of clerk for at least seven years and either have lifetime certification or be working toward recertification or lifetime certification.

They also must provide service and contribution beyond just that of the municipality in which they serve by active participation in the state and/or county clerks associations and demonstrate a socially responsible approach toward the community, and promote the cause of good local government. They must be recognized as a clerk who displays characteristics of integrity and leadership, and who has received the respect and confidence of peers.

Lycette is one of two in Maine who hold the International Master Municipal Clerk title. She has been with the town of Lisbon since 1989.
