AUBURN — Bisson Moving & Storage Co., with offices in Auburn, Brunswick and Westbrook, exceeded its monthly goal by delivering 794 pounds of donated food to the Good Shepherd Food-Bank. The delivery in August was part of its partnership in the Move for Hunger program.
Since partnering with Move for Hunger in March, Bisson has collected and delivered more than 2,200 pounds of donated food, the equivalent of nearly 1,700 meals, to The Good Shepherd Food-Bank for distribution to Maine’s neediest.
Move for Hunger is a nationwide nonprofit organization comprised of approximately 150 moving companies. The mission is to collect unopened, nonperishable, donated food from moving customers that would otherwise be discarded during the move process. The food is consolidated in the Westbrook warehouse and monthly deliveries made to The Good Shepherd Food-Bank.
The August delivery was made possible by a donation from one of Bisson’s commercial clients. Bisson was named “Mover of the Month” by Move for Hunger in June.
Bisson is an agent for Atlas Van Lines. Headquartered in Evansville, Ind. Atlas is the nation’s second largest van line with 500 agents nationwide. Bisson recently received Atlas’ prestigious World Class Commitment to Quality Award by meeting or exceeding all 12 of Atlas’ quality standards.
