BRIDGTON — Bridgton Hospital announces it has been awarded the prestigious international recognition as a Baby-Friendly® birth facility.

It is the first critical access hospital in Maine to have been designated Baby-Friendly, and one of 116 nationwide to obtain the recognition.

The hospital becomes the fifth one in Maine designated Baby Friendly. The others are Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, York Hospital in York, MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta and Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta. The designation is given after an intense on-site survey is completed.

The Special Delivery Family Birthing Center provides all-private birthing suites, including jacuzzi tubs, and features in-room sleeping accommodations for dads or family.
