AUGUSTA — The State Police tactical team has been called to the Oxford County town of Porter to assist federal investigators who were serving a search warrant this morning.

As the officers were approaching the house on the Spec Pond Road, they heard a gunshot from inside and called for the tactical team to assist them, according to a press release issued by Stephen McCausland with the Maine Department of Public Safety.

“Only one person is believed to be inside the house and members of the tactical team are now attempting to make contact with that person,” the release stated.

The team was called out as it was conducting training exercises in the Piscataquis County Town of Sebec and hundreds of motorists saw the caravan of State Police cruisers cars headed south on the Interstate, the release stated.

The Spec Pond Road has been closed. The road is off from Route 160.
