LEWISTON — Join the Bates men’s basketball team for a great evening of basketball Friday, Oct. 14. Improve your fundamental basketball skills, meet the Bates men’s basketball players and have fun. This session will include lectures and stations with a focus on individual offensive skills. It will also include various contests to improve your skills and let you play one-on-one against Bates basketball players.

The clinic will be directed by the Bates men’s basketball team and coaching staff. Participants will be divided into groups by age, gender and skill level. Space is limited so please sign up early. Parents are encouraged to enjoy their Friday night by relaxing, going out to dinner or going to a movie. “Walk-ins” will be taken on a first come, first serve basis if there is room in the clinic.

You may reserve a spot via email to Coach Jon Furbush at [email protected]. Cost of the clinic is $25 and is payable in cash or check. Registration is from 5 to 5:30 p.m. Clinic starts at 5:30 and goes until 8:30 p.m., with pick up from 8:30 to 9 p.m. Please notify Coach Furbush if you would like to request an early pickup.

IAABO hoop referee clinics

AUBURN — The International Association of Approved Basketball Officials (IAABO) 21 will be holding rules instruction for prospective basketball officials. Candidates must be 18 years of age to take the test and work in the 2011-2012 season. If you have played the game, still enjoy being involved and would like to make extra money, this may be a good outlet for you.

The first class will be held Monday, Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. at Edward Little High School. There is no cost to attend. No pre-registration is necessary. A test will be given on Nov. 13 at 6 p.m. at Edward Little.

LHS basketball clinics

LEWISTON — The Lewiston High School boys’ basketball coaching staff will be offering clinics at LHS on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct., 5, 12, 19 and 26.

These clinics are for boys and girls in grades 5 to 8 and cost $10 per session.

Drills and fundamentals will be stressed, including ball handling, shooting and footwork.
