The employees of Stevens Electric & Pump Service of Monmouth had been working to pump out the tank Tuesday morning at The Lodge at Turbat’s Creek when their bodies were found floating in the tank by another person.

The victims were identified as 58-year-old Winfield Studley of Windsor and 70-year-old Richard Kemp of Monmouth.

Sanford Police Chief Craig Sanford didn’t want to speculate on whether the deaths were the result of a medical issue, an equipment malfunction or some other factor.

Officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the incident.
