LEWISTON — YPLAA will award four individuals and one business with its annual YPLAA Awards at their 2011 annual meeting on Oct. 28.

The annual meeting will be held at the Carriage House, 1119 Lisbon St., Lewiston, starting with a social gathering at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., followed by the awards and comedians at 8 p.m.

YPLAA announces that the award recipients for 2011 include Mary LaFontaine, winner of the Mentor Award, presented to an individual who has successfully impacted a young professional’s life that helped lead to achieving success.

Mike Dostie was named recipient of the Community Involvement Award, presented to a young professional who has exhibited proactive involvement in the community beyond job duties.

Gritty McDuffs Brewing Company was named the Business Champion Award winner. The award is presented to a business that has supported YPLAA and/or young professionals in its organization to be a part of YPLAA, and to participate in events and other activities.

Julia Sleeper was named recipient of the Tree Street Youth-Entrepreneur Award, presented to a young professional who has successfully started or expanded a business in the area.

Dustin Carrier, of Carrier Lawn and Landscape, was named winner of the  Business Person of the Year Award, presented to a young professional with a nomination that stands out above the rest.
