NORWAY — Opening day at the Norway Winter Farmers Market will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, as a celebration of the fall season in the Oxford Hills with vendors, guests and activities for all.
The day will be full of fun and education provided by Healthy Oxford Hills, the Maine Forest Service, Responsible Pet Care, the Norway Fire Department and others. The community is encouraged to visit the Town Square and view the fire department’s smoke house or talk to representatives of Healthy Oxford Hills on eating local, healthy foods.
Children will be able to visit the farm animals and do pumpkin painting activities. The Kidds Hillbilly Farm will have baby goats, Hollow Heritage Farm will have baby pigs and Thunder Hill Farm will have a steer team with cart on hand for rides.
Mr. and Mrs. Gingerbread will greet children on the front lawn where Norway Downtown will have pumpkins for painting. Norway Downtown will have other activities along Main Street as well.
The market will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday from Oct. 22 through Dec. 17. New this year, it will continue throughout the winter the first and third Saturdays of the month. Also new this year, the market will be located at the First Universalist Church, 479 Main St., downtown Norway.
The move provides a stage for music and a kitchen to offer hot, local foods. Cathi DiCocco will head up the kitchen.
All are welcome. For more information or to become a vendor, contact Candi Rousseau, market manager, at 388-2919 or at [email protected].
