AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — The Maine Labor Department says the state’s unemployment rate fell by a tenth of a percentage point to 7.5 percent in September.

Labor officials said Friday the seasonally adjusted rate for September was down by 0.1 percent from the same month a year ago. Last month’s national unemployment rate was 9.1 percent.

Cumberland County had the state’s lowest unadjusted jobless rate, at 5.7 percent. The highest unemployment rate, 9.3 percent, was found in both Washington and Somerset counties.
