MONMOUTH — The Friends of Cumston Hall will present a concert, “Two Sides of the Classical Guitar,” featuring Maine-based performers Brian Cullen and David Bullard, on Friday, Nov. 4.

Cullen and Bullard will share the stage, each playing two sets, one in the first act and one in the second.

Cullen, of Brunswick, has been playing and teaching classical guitar for more than 30 years in his native South Africa and in the United States. A graduate of Trinity College in London, he brings a delicate touch and a lyrical sense of phrasing to classical and contemporary music.

Bullard, of Portland, is a native Californian and has spent the past 20 years traveling across the country playing his own songs.

The two will play original tunes as well as known pieces from Bach to Brazilian to the Beatles.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. at Cumston Hall, 796 Main St. Tickets are $10, $15 at the door. The are available at www.friendsofcumstonhall.org or by calling The Theater At Monmouth box office at 933-9999.

Proceeds from the show will benefit ongoing restoration work at Cumston Hall, a Victorian opera house in the center of town. The 1900 Romanesque Revival building has been fully restored to the splendor of its original interior, which was designed and painted by Harry Cochrane, one of Maine’s most prolific muralists.
