LISBON — Two Lewiston women were injured when the car they were riding in crossed into the other lane while traveling on Route 196 Tuesday and struck a utility pole on the opposite side of the road.

Both women were trapped in the car and had to be extricated. The driver, Diane Michaud, 55, of Spofford St., complained of leg, chest and abdominal pain. Her passenger, Carol Sanders, 81, complained of leg pain and dizziness. They were both transported to Lewiston hospitals.

 The accident occurred near the intersection of the Littlefield Road at about 1 p.m.
