OXFORD — There’s a lottery ticket worth $2.6 million, but the owner hasn’t come forward to claim the prize, a Maine State Lottery official said Tuesday.
The $2.6 million winning ticket was sold at Polly’s Variety on King Street. The drawing was Oct. 28.
Michael Boardman, marketing manager for the lottery, said it’s not unusual for winners to wait a week or two before coming forward with winning tickets. “Typically what happens is people are seeking financial advice,” Boardman said Tuesday.
On Tuesday, a cashier there said customers have been asking for days who won. They don’t know, she said. “We’re all hoping it’s someone who really needs it,” she said.
Polly’s Variety will receive 1 percent of the winning total, or $26,000.
According to Boardman, the ticket expires one year from the draw date. The winning numbers were 10, 20, 30, 31, 33 and the Megaball was 4.
