ORRINGTON, Maine — After investigating the fatal shooting of a dog in Orrington, the Maine Warden Service has charged a local man with the shooting of a domestic animal, according to a spokeswoman for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

The German shepherd was running loose in the woods when it was shot by Seth White, 53, according to Edie Smith.

The Maine Warden Service stresses during hunting season, hunters must practice 100 percent identification of any wild animal or wild bird before shooting a target.
