LEWISTON – St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion, a member of St. Mary’s Health System in Lewiston, recently received the 2011 Celebrating Excellence in Innovation Award. The recognition ceremony was held at the Augusta Civic Center.

First Lady Ann LePage joined the Maine Health Care Association to present the award. Sponsored by MHCA, the award is given annually to long-term care providers that have designed and implemented an outstanding program that has demonstrated success in improving resident quality of life/care, enhancing employee development and relationships or engaging community members or groups in facility life.

St. Mary’s d’Youville Pavilion was recognized for its patient/resident-centered staffing model. “We recognized that the staffing model was not based on patient-centered care and best practices, said Phil Jean, vice president of Elder Care Services. “Staff came up with a creative approach that provides a better continuum of care to our patients and residents.”
